Metrology Engineer

Overview:

Senvias is seeking a skilled Metrology Engineer to develop and implement precise measurement plans that ensure product quality and adherence to design specifications. Position Summary:

The Metrology Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality and adherence to design specifications through the development and implementation of precise measurement plans. This role involves utilizing advanced metrology equipment and software to analyze product data, identify deviations, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. The Metrology Engineer will also provide guidance and oversight to the Metrology Technician.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize measurement plans to ensure precise data capture and analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to determine the necessary check gauges and fixtures for production processes.
  • Design and calibrate complex gauges to ensure precise and reliable measurement capabilities.
  • Conducts in-depth analysis of metrology scans using Polyworks and Verisurf to identify deviations from design specifications and generate detailed reports.
  • Own and manage the entire calibration system, including calibration schedules, documentation, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with calibration standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives by analyzing metrology data to identify trends and root causes of quality issues.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to inspect product, address quality concerns, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to the Metrology Technician.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of metrology best practices and industry standards.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in metrology engineering, including hands-on experience with metrology trackers such as FARO and Creaform MetraScan.
  • Proven proficiency in metrology software, specifically Polyworks and Verisurf.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Experience in calibration systems management

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Manual dexterity required for operating metrology equipment.
  • Visual acuity for inspecting devices and reading measurement instruments.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, protective eye wear, and others as required.
  • Exposure to noise from machinery and equipment.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and lighting conditions.
