Position Summary:
The Quality Leader is responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of Quality Inspectors to ensure that all products and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves managing daily inspection operations, coordinating with other departments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Leader will ensure the team’s effectiveness, accuracy, and adherence to quality protocols.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Quality Inspectors, providing directions, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to quality standards.
- Develop and implement inspection procedures and quality control processes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate daily inspection activities, allocate resources, and manage inspection schedules to meet production demands.
- Review and analyze inspection activities, allocate resources, and manage inspection schedules to meet production demands.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing feedback and identifying opportunities for development.
- Facilitate communication between the Quality Inspection team and other departments (e.g., production, process engineering) to address quality issues and improve processes.
- Monitor and report on quality metrics, trends, and performance, and use this data to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and company policies in all quality inspection activities.
- Participate in root-cause analyses and problem-solving efforts for quality-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality control or inspection role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Certification from a recognized quality assurance organization (e.g., CQI, CQT) is preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in using measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with various departments and stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100)
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, protective eyewear, and others as required.
- Exposure to noise from machinery and equipment.
- Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and lighting conditions.
- Some overtime may be required to meet production deadlines or address quality issues.
